Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Le'Machar u'le'Etmol: The History of Israel through Israeli Dancing. The very first Israeli Folk Dances were created in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s by visionaries endeavoring to create a culture for the nascent state of Israel. As the country grew, so did its culture. Experience the history of Israel, as reflected in the development of Israeli folk dancing. This session assumes participants have some familiarity with Israeli dance.

Aaron Alpert

Markid, Nirkoda!
Aaron was Israeli dancing before he could walk (carried by his parents, of course)! Israeli folk dance has since served as Aaron's connection to Israel, Jewish history and religion, and the Jewish community. Whether teaching at UC Berkeley, weekend dance retreats (e.g., Camp Rikud in Malibu), or at his own monthly harkada, Aaron loves to share the joy and energy of rikudei am. Come join the wonderful community of Bay Area dancers and friends!
