Creating Community Through Art and Prayer
How a group of 10 women in the Congregation Beth Sholom community were brought together by artist Elyssa Wortzman to participate in her audio art work that reimagines prayer, in this case, the Shma and V'ahavta. Elyssa will discuss the concept of art as prayer, the process of making this art work within community and what the results were within the group of participants and the community at large. The presentation will include a screening of the audio work: Listen! Can You Hear? We will end with a discussion about the work, the purpose and power of prayer, and what other alternative, creative prayer forms could be used individually or within community.
